The Queensland Government and local councils are working together to help make Schoolies rewarding and fair for everyone involved — not just the Schoolies.
There are also a range of measures in place to make Schoolies safer, including:
- a highly visible police presence throughout Schoolies precincts
- the organisation of free activities for Schoolies in some areas
- improved coordination of local council volunteers and community-based organisations
- a campaign aimed at reinforcing liquor licensee awareness of their responsibility to sell alcohol to people aged 18 and over only
- an education and awareness program for young people and parents
- a complaint-handling mechanism to deal with accommodation and consumer issues.

With some tolerance from the local community, the event can be a positive and enjoyable experience where young people celebrate with their friends, meet new people and enjoy the transition from school to new futures.
If you are a local business or resident, you can get more information about what plans are in place for you by calling 13 13 04.
